Overview
Creative Networking Concepts (CNC) has been providing state and local governments
with IT products since 1990. As the only integrator in New Jersey to be a Novell Platinum Named
Partner, a Microsoft Public Sector Consulting Partner and a Nortel Networks Premiere Partner, CNC
provides valuable services to the education market.
Challenge
As government contracts became more focused on price it was becoming increasingly
difficult for CNC to compete for hardware sales while also maintaining its core value proposition
of exceptional technical services. CNC needed to find ways to reduce its total cost of operations
without sacrificing its core competencies.
Solution
Advantec proposed two avenues to significantly improve CNC's competitive position.
First, Advantec would provide custom configuration services for all PCs, Servers and Tablets. Second,
Advantec would develop a custom web site with full functioning e-commerce. Both steps would reduce
CNC's operating expenses without impacting their ability to provide highly valued services.
Advantec established a transition model to become the outsource partner for operations
and e-commerce. Critical to the plan's success was Advantec's ability to run the new methodology in
parallel with existing operations to insure a smooth transition. Advantec started the manufacturing
integration project by providing CNC with components, and then kits, and then barebone systems and finally
fully configured systems. Within 6 weeks of initiating the project Advantec had assumed full responsibility
for all integration.
The e-commerce capabilities were developed as a module to run on top of the existing
web site. The main CNC site was designated as a marketing tool and the new Advantec module is the sales
transaction and administrative tool. This modular approach created a seamless transition for CNC's
customers and employees.
Benefits
CNC is now able to provide more competitive pricing on computer hardware. This has allowed
the company to earn business for which it can now also provide high margin, high value professional services.
Customers benefit from the simplicity of the site. Computer configurations can be modified as much as the
end customer likes, and those customers are still able to contract with CNC for valued services.
